Wonderkid Gavi signs a new contract with Barcelona that has a $1 billion release clause.

A contract extension for SPAIN MIDFIELDER GAVI with Barcelona was signed until the summer of 2026. The contract’s €1 billion release clause was included.

Gavi, 18, has been a member of the organization since 2015. He joined through La Masia’s youth system and made his first-team debut in August of that same year.

Barcelona released the following statement: “Barcelona and the player Pablo Paez Gavira, aka “Gavi,” have agreed to extend his contract through June 30, 2026. One billion euros are set aside as the buyout clause.

Gavi became the third-youngest goal scorer for Barca when he scored his first goal for the team in December 2021 against Elche.

The midfielder is also a key member of Luis Enrique’s international squad.

The Barca teenager earned his first cap in the Nations League against Italy last year to become the youngest player to ever represent Spain at senior level.
