NDLEA Uncovers Cocaine Concealed in cans of deodorant

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered 5.90kg of cocaine hidden in cans of deodorant from a passenger at the Lagos international airport

In a statement released on Sunday, NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said that the 44-year-old man had been arrested for bringing 5.90 kilograms of cocaine into Nigeria hidden inside cans of deodorant and women’s lip gloss.

According to reports , he was an ex convict who had been apprehended in Ethiopia, convicted of drug trafficking offenses, and sentenced to seven years in prison. He was set to be freed from prison in 2020. was again arrested on Friday September 16, 2022, at the Lagos airport while returning from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Addis Abeba on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

He stated during the initial interview that he entered the drug trade to raise new funds to launch a legal business once he was released from the Ethiopian prison in 2020.
